Well, you’ve decided to go into article marketing. That is an exciting move. There is a lot of information so it may seem confusing on where to begin. Don’t worry, article marketing tips are here! Duplicate Content

TIP! To start article marketing, write an original article for your website, making sure it is optimized for your primary keywords and 400-500 words in length. You will want this to be a high quality, well written article as it will be the foundation for more articles to follow.

Do Not be a copycat! Don’t write posts or news stories just to have something that will show up in a search engine. Remaining innovative will allow you to best market your business. Because duplicate-content filters continue to evolve, writing  in a copycat manner will not serve you well in the long run. In addition, the PANDA update Google did in February 2011 penalizes duplicate content so you could end up doing more harm than good by plagiarizing.

To really monetize on your written articles, you need to make sure that you have your own website. This is where it will be okay to have 1000 word articles, however the best for your own website is between 500 and 700 words.

When promoting your online articles, you should aim to republish them in a free blog platform like Blogger and With this, you do not have to be concerned about duplicate content because search engines know the origin of the original site, but make sure you publish to your site first. These blog platforms have a potential of drawing more people to your articles.

Article Directories

TIP! A good article marketing tip is to do as much research as you can on keywords. Using the right keywords is important because it can help you get more traffic to your articles.

Keep articles that you submit to article directories around 500 or 700 words. Some directories prefer 300 to 500. You can also have offers and affiliate links on your own site that can really make your reader’s attention to your site valuable to you.

Be sure your articles read like articles and not ad copy. If your articles read like a sales pitch, article directories will reject them. You should not mention your product or brand multiple times. Some article directories require that you only mention a brand or product once. Sometimes it’s best just to mention it in the resource box and not in the article.


TIP! Remember that your articles need to be action-oriented as you’re writing them. Even if you’re working on telling a story or are praising a product’s effectiveness, the idea is ultimately to provide people with a clear direction to visit a site or location of your choosing.

Article marketing can be used not only to sell a product but to gain publicity. By using article marketing to generate attention you can brand your products and attract additional sales and prospects.

If your company provides products or services to other companies, your article marketing efforts can be combined with your customer relations efforts by including some of your customer’s “success” stories in your article. You can usually get a good 400-word article written for about $10.00.  Alternatively, I personally use a software that is out of this world. You can create quality articles within minutes. I use three different platforms, all by the same developer, Jonathan Leger. One I have been using forever is Instant Article Wizard. This program parses data from the web, and is an invaluable research tool. You can write a well-researched article in about 10 minutes on any subject. My boyfriend didn’t believe me so I wrote him an article on some obscure subcategory of DNA nanotechnology to prove it to him (paranemic or something like that.) We were both so impressed! I wrote an intelligent article on something completely beyond my understanding (and interest, but don’t tell him that.)

The newest tool I use is Article Builder. Jonathan Leger has employed a team of writers who generate content. All you do is input your keywords, choose the article length and subject, and Voila!  Within a minute, you have a fabulous professionally written article.

The other one that he is launching is in beta testing right now. It is called Jiffy articles, and is FREE for now. It gives you the start and outline of a perfect article. You can also enter your thoughts and keywords and have one of his professional writers write an article for you for 1 cent per word (Yup, $3.00 for a 300 word article – crazy, huh?).
